While summer has brought in the sizzly mornings, we have made sure we get some beach time too after the hot yet beautiful garden mornings.
Watering early in the morning or late in the evening is a regular chore for our crops, however we do so in an intelligent way to maximize on the water use and not waste much to evaporation. One of the many ways that helps us maximize water use, is the choice of crops that can thrive in water scarce environments. Amaranth for instance is a great crop with big foliage that can supply us with Spinach like leaves in summer. It also has a good number of benefits.
Amaranth Is gluten-free.
It Has more protein than other grains/foliage.
Amaranth provides essential Lysine.
Helps with hair loss and greying.
Lowers cholesterol and risk of cardiovascular disease.
It's high in calcium.
Amaranth is full of antioxidants and minerals.
It looks beautiful in your garden and you can use the heads for decoration in the house too.
